WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State ice hockey senior captain Cooper Board (Glen Ellyn, Ill.) earned Westfield State University's Male Athlete of the Year at the Owls Student Athlete Advisory Committee Senior and Athletic Awards night on May 4.

A captain and forward for the Owls, Board raised the bar for the program after scoring one of the more impactful goals in team history, potting an overtime winner in the Owls MASCAC semifinal game against Fitchburg State to send Westfield into the conference championship game for the first time in program history.

He was named to the MASCAC all-conference first team as a forward, scoring seven goals and adding 15 assists for 22 points. He has registered 79 career points with 39 goals and 40 assists and has secured eight game-winning goals in his career.

Board's academic success is equally impressive as he also was named Westfield State University's Male Scholar Athlete of the Year with the highest cumulative grade point average of men in his class.

Westfield State Athletics Director Richard Lenfest presented Board with a plaque on awards night earlier this month.
