Stevens 1500 Highlights Silfen Performances
Stevens crossed the line in 4:47.23 seconds in a field of 33 runners from Division I, II and III programs
Reese Stevens turned in the best result of the day for the Westfield State women's track and field team with a seventh-place finish in the 1500 meters as part of the Elite Distance Events at the Silfen Invitational Meet at Connecticut College in New London on Friday night.
Stevens crossed the line in a personal best time of 4:47.23 seconds. In a field of 33 runners from Division I, II and III programs, Stevens was fourth among the D3 athletes in the field.
Westfield's Julianne Kelly registered a 12th place finish in the 3000 steeplechase with a time of 12:14.86, her fastest of the season.
In a massive 48 runner field in the 5000 meters, the Owls' Tealei Chandonnet finished 22nd in 18:22.65, and Shea Hamel placed 27th with a time of 18:44.18.
The Owls are back in action on Saturday at home for the Gravel Invitational meet.
