Owls win three titles at MASCAC Championships
Westfield finished fourth in the team scoring with 103 points
FITCHBURG, Mass. — Westfield State's Daniel Shea(Longmeadow, Mass.) and Andrew Organ (Suffield, Conn.) won individual event titles to headline Westfield State's men's track and field performances at the 2026 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships at Fitchburg State on Saturday.
Westfield finished fourth in the team scoring with 103 points, chasing meet champ Bridgewater State (221), Fitchburg State (179) and Worcester State (106). Mass Maritime was fifth with 35 points.
First-year Organ delivered the program's lone individual track victory, winning the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 10:13.74 to secure 10 team points.
Junior Daniel Shea took home the conference title in the long jump, posting a winning mark of 6.71 meters (22-0.25). Shea also added a fifth-place finish in the pole vault (2.80m), contributing to one of the top individual point totals for the Owls on the day.
Westfield State also claimed a relay title, as the 4x800-meter team crossed first in 8:17.46. Reid Sunshine, Rowan Gottschall, Colin Mahoney and Lorcan Bergeron formed the Owls' winning quintet.
Senior Johnny Ware was among Westfield State's most productive scorers, placing second in the javelin (with a season-best mark of 58.04m) for eight points and adding a fifth-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles (17.02) for two more.
Westfield State's depth showed across several events. Michael Pelletier scored in two jumps, finishing fourth in the long jump (6.58m) and fourth in the triple jump (12.92m), totaling eight points. In the throws,
Micah Scott added a runner-up finish in the discus (40.24m) for eight points, while also placing ninth in the shot put.
On the track, Jordan Stallworth contributed sprint points, placing fifth in the 100-meter dash (11.10) and sixth in the 200 (22.73) for a combined five points. Gottshall added four points with a fourth-place finish in the 800 meters (2:00.71).
Distance scoring also bolstered the Owls' total, as Rodrigo Miranda (second, 10,000m – 34:50.03) and Tyler Meunier (sixth, 10,000m – 35:36.21) combined for nine points, while Braedan Ramsey was fifth in the 5,000m – 17:10.46) and also placed fifth in the steeplechase.
Devan Cerone placed second in the high jump 1.87m, with Owen Klatka tied for third at 1.80m, while the 4x100 (third, 43.03) and 4x400 (third, 3:28.43) relay teams each contributed points.
