Egan, O'Brien Earn Senior Scholar Athlete Awards
Senior women’s golfer Kaitlyn Egan (Sutton, Mass./Grafton HS) and senior men’s soccer goalkeeper Collin O’Brien (Windsor Locks, Conn./Windsor Locks HS) were recently named as the Senior Scholar-Athletes of the Year by the Westfield State University athletic department.
WESTFIELD, Mass. – Senior women's golfer Kaitlyn Egan (Sutton, Mass./Grafton HS) and senior men's soccer goalkeeper Collin O'Brien (Windsor Locks, Conn./Windsor Locks HS) were recently named as the Senior Scholar-Athletes of the Year by the Westfield State University athletic department.
Egan is a two-year member of the Owls women's golf team. The Owls finished ninth at the 2024 Northeast Women's Golf Conference Championship meet. Egan carried a perfect 4.0 GPA in criminal justice at Westfield State.
O'Brien has been a three-year member of the Owls men's soccer team. He served as a team captain this season, helping the Owls to a7-8-2 overall record and a 5-2 mark and the second seed in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference tournament last fall and a runner up finish in the MASCAC tournament. O'Brien played in 12 matches with four career starts for the Owls in net. Finishing with a 4.0 GPA, he will graduate with a degree in criminal justice from Westfield State.
The senior-scholar athlete award is presented annually to the Owls male and female athletes with the highest individual grade-point average among the senior class.
