Owls Welcome Nyindu Kabangu to Athletic Department Staff
Westfield State University athletics has added Nyindu Kabangu, Jr. to the staff as Coordinator of Student-Athlete Leadership, Inclusion and Engagement, with the position funded through an NCAA grant.
WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State University athletics has added Nyindu Kabangu, Jr. to the staff as Coordinator of Student-Athlete Leadership, Inclusion and Engagement, with the position funded through an NCAA grant.
Kabangu and Owls' associate athletics director Nancy Bals attended an NCAA orientation program at NCAA headquarters in Indianapolis in late July, with Kabangu beginning on campus duties in Westfield this week.
A native of Framingham, Mass., Kabangu is a 2021 graduate of the Isenberg School of Management at UMass, where he received a bachelor of science degree in sport management as well as a bachelor's of business administration degree in operations and information management, and was a nominee for the McCormack School of Sports Management's top senior student award.
He earned his MBA from Rowan (NJ) University this past spring, with concentrations in Organizational Leadership, and Data Analytics. While at Rowan, he was the graduate coordinator of intramural sports and special events, and coached the school's women's club basketball team.
He served as a program assistant in the intramural program at UMass for all four years, and also completed a general management internship with the Worcester Bravehearts baseball team of the Futures League.
