Westfield State athletics mourns the recent passing of Gerry Dupuis, who served as the storekeeper at in the Owls' Athletic Department for many years before retiring in 1996.
Gerry filled a variety of roles in the department managing the equipment room and running the score clock at numerous athletic events. His full obituary appears below.
Gerald Francis Dupuis, 82, of Holyoke, passed away on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. He was born in Holyoke, son of the late Francis and Evelyn (Boisvert) Dupuis and was a 1954 graduate of Holyoke Trade High School. Gerry attended Holyoke Community College and Westfield State College, and worked at Westfield State for many years as a store keeper in the Athletic Dept., retiring in 1996.
He was a lifelong Holyoke resident, and a member of the Chicopee Sportsmen's Club and Fairview Knights of Columbus Council 4044.
Gerry is survived by his wife of 61 years, Kathleen R. (Devine) Dupuis; a son James F. Dupuis of Springfield; two daughters: Patricia A. Burnett and husband Stuart of Springfield, and Christine A. Daigle and husband John of Southampton; six grandchildren: Katie Sternowski and husband Scott, Patricia Duprat and her husband Matthew, Nicole Milotte and husband Sean, Joseph Daigle, Chelsea Callahan, and Jennifer Burnett; seven great grandchildren: Kaylee, Ashley, Ava, Samantha, Matthew, Jason and Lily, and several nieces and nephews. Gerry was predeceased by his brother, Raymond "Joe" Dupuis.
A funeral service will be held Monday, February 12th at 11:00am in the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street. Burial will be private in St. Jerome Cemetery. A Calling hour will be held Monday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to
