Westfield, Mass.- Westfield State men's ice hockey will host Framingham St. on Saturday February 12th at 5:35pm at Amelia Park Ice Arena in Westfield, Mass.
There will be a pre-game ceremony for the Owls who are celebrating their eight seniors: Justin Collins, Chuck Costello, Jason Diamond, John-Michael DiGregorio Paul Frys, Wyatt Lawrence, Jake Ratcliffe, and Tyler Shugrue.
The annual alumni game will also precede the game at 3:00 p.m. Any alumni who are interested in taking part should email Coach Miele at rmiele@westfield.ma.edu.
This contest proves pivotal in the Owls' playoff push. After a 5-2 win against Salem on February 10, the Owls bumped up to fifth place in the MASCAC with a 5-7-2 record in conference play (10-9-2 overall). Chuck Costello (Philadelphia, PA) played well in the victory, adding two goals and two assists to his line. Valtteri Valtonen (Helsinki, Finland) continued his solid play saving 44 of 46 shots. A win against Framingham gives the Owls a good chance to move even further up the MASCAC standings pending losses from either Worcester State or UMass Dartmouth.
Framingham currently sits at seventh in the MASCAC standings (2-16-0 overall, 1-12-0 conference). The Rams have dropped their last three games. Freshman Dylan Marty currently leads the team in goals with five tallies on the year. Their last win came February 3 over UMass Dartmouth, where Marty buried the winning goal in overtime.
This is the first of a three-game home stand for the Owls. Next up they'll face second place Plymouth State on Tuesday February 15th with puck drop slated for 1:25 p.m.
