Another School Record Falls at LEC Championships; Owls Place Eighth
Alexa Richter placed second in the 100 individual medley in 1:02.64, 0.14 seconds faster than Tobey Cronnell’s record time set March 1, 1992.
Westfield State senior Alexa Richter (Westfield, Mass.) added another school record to her mantle, breaking a 32-year old record time in the 100-yard individual medley ,as the Westfield State women's swimming and diving team wrapped up the 2025 season with an eighth place finish at the Little East Conference Championships at the Boston Sports Institute in Wellesley, Mass. on Sunday evening.
Westfield held on to the eighth place in the meet standings with 233 points. Keene State won the team title with 779 points.
Richter placed second in the 100 individual medley in 1:02.64, 0.14 seconds faster than Tobey Cronnell's record time set March 1, 1992. Richter posted the fastest qualifying time in the morning session, but was touched out at the finish of the championship final by Eastern Connecticut's Tasha Frisch by just 16/100ths of a second.
Westfield State also had two swimmers reach the consolation final of the 100 IM, where Olivia Harkins (Woburn, Mass.) placed 12th in 1:08.95 with Megan Baio (E. Bridgewater, Mass.) 14th in 1:10.58.
Owls sophomore Jackie Roccabruna (Pittsfield, Mass.) finished 12th in the 100 freestyle in 59.06, as Andrea Mattson (Temple, N.H.) also reached the consolation final and placed 16th in 1:01.12.
The Owls closed out the meet by qualifying for the championship final and placing seventh in the 400-yard freestyle relay, with the crew of Richter, Roccabruna, Katie Colby (Shrewsbury, Mass.) and Brooklyn Jones (Oklahoma City, Okla.) finishing in 3:57.14.
