Rennich Named MASCAC Player of the Week
Westfield State graduate student Jenn Rennich secured the MASCAC Player of the Week after a five-goal week which saw the Owls earn a pair of victories.
WESTFIELD, Mass. – For the second straight week, Westfield State graduate student Jenn Rennich (Bedford, Mass.) earned conference recognition this past week by securing the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week honors after a 2-0 week for the Owls.
Rennich tallied five goals and added two assists for a total of 12 points in a week which saw the Owls steamroll past Plymouth State and Salem State. She scored four goals and an assist in the Owls 6-1 thrashing over Salem State on Saturday. The four goals matched the second-best single game total in school history. After defeating Salem on Saturday, it was the second consecutive season in which the Owls posted a perfect regular season conference record. Rennich also recorded a goal and a helper in a 5-0 victory over non-conference opponent Plymouth State on Wednesday.
The fifth-year forward continues to inch closer towards the school record in goals, as her five-goal week moved her career goal total to 49, just two short of tying the program record set by Sandy Pinto. She also extended her own career points record to 142 and the career assist record to 44.
On the season, Rennich is tied for sixth in Division III in goals scored (22) and is third in the MASCAC with six assists.
Westfield State enters the MASCAC Tournament as the number one overall seed after winning the conference regular season title. The Owls received a first-round bye and then will host a MASCAC Semifinal game on Friday at 7:00 P.M. against the winner of fifth-seeded Framingham State and fourth-seeded Worcester State at Alumni Field in Westfield, Mass.
