Lucy Barrett posted 20 points to help lead the Westfield State Owls past the Salem State Vikings 86-81 at Twohig Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon. The Owls rise to 14-9 on the season and 8-2 in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC). Salem State dips to 5-18 on the regular season and 3-8 in the MASCAC.

Moussette's Free Throw Pushes Owls Past Framingham, 77-76

Westfield State junior point guard Chelsea Moussette (Hampshire/Southampton, Mass.) hit 1- of 2 free throws with seven seconds left in regulation, which proved to be just enough for the Owls to squeak past Framingham State, 77-76 in a MASCAC women’s basketball game at the Woodward Center on Wednesday night.

Worcester State Holds Off Westfield, 94-79

Westfield State had four players in double figures, led by Barrett and Kierra McCarthy (Ludlow, Mass.), who each had 14 points. Sophomore Melissa Gray (Peabody, Mass.) recorded 13 points, and sophomore Taina Slaughter (Springfield, Mass.) poured in 12.

Women's Basketball Tops Salem State, 93-69

Westfield State women’s basketball spotted Salem State a 17-0 lead out of the gate, but the Owls came roaring back behind 28 points from Kierra McCarthy  and 24 from Melissa Gray as the Owls posted a 93-69 win in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference play at the Woodward Center on Saturday afternoon.
