Rogers, Jr. Continues Impressive Run of Conference Rookie Honors
Men’s basketball first-year forward Kenneth Rogers, Jr. (Springfield, Mass.) captures another MASCAC Rookie of the Week honor, increasing his total to 12 on the year after another impressive week for the Owls.
WESTFIELD, Mass. – Men's basketball first-year forward Kenneth Rogers, Jr. (Springfield, Mass.) captures another MASCAC Rookie of the Week honor, increasing his total to 12 on the year after another impressive week for the Owls.
Rogers, Jr. helped the Owls capture the top seed in the MASCAC tournament playoffs this week as he averaged 24 points per game as Westfield went 1-1. Rogers, Jr. scored 25 points and dished out a season-high nine assists against Bridgewater on Wednesday and added 23 points against Salem on Saturday. Those two 20-plus point performances moves his season total up to 15 games with 20-plus points in his rookie campaign.
His efforts last week increased his conference lead in points per game in the MASCAC to 19.1 points per game, a whole point ahead of second place. Rogers, Jr. is also still in second in rebounds per game with 9.3. His 3.8 assists per game boosts him to fourth in the league displaying his all-around ability in just his first season.
On the season, Rogers, Jr. has totaled 478 points which is top-15 all-time in program history for a single season.
