Rogers, Jr. Captures Seventh MASCAC Rookie of the Week Honors
Men’s basketball first-year forward Kenneth Rogers, Jr. (Springfield, Mass.) captured his seventh Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week honor as the Owls soared to their eighth straight win last week.
WESTFIELD, Mass. – Men's basketball first-year forward Kenneth Rogers, Jr. (Springfield, Mass.) captured his seventh Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week honor as the Owls soared to their eighth straight win last week.
Rogers, Jr. helped Westfield capture two MASCAC wins this week to help them climb to 4-0 in the conference. In those games, Rogers, Jr. averaged 19.5 points per game, 11.5 boards, and dished out 6.5 assists per game. He helped propel the Owls to their third 100-point tally this season as Westfield scored 105 at Fitchburg on Saturday, where Rogers Jr. scored 25 points.
Rogers, Jr. leads the conference in scoring as he averages just shy of 19 points per game at 18.9. He is also second in the MASCAC in rebounds per game with 9.1, sixth in the conference in assists with 3.4 per game, and seventh in shooting percentage at 45.2 percent.
Rogers, Jr. and the Owls are back in action at home this Saturday, January 25 for a noon tip-off against last year's MASCAC runner-up, Bridgewater State from the Woodward Center in Westfield, Mass.
