Rogers Sweeps Player, Rookie of the Week Honors (Again!)
Westfield State first-year forward Kenneth Rogers, Jr. (Springfield International Charter School/Springfield, Mass.) nabbed his third Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference men’s basketball player of the week honor and his sixth conference rookie of the week honors for his play in a pair of Owls wins.
WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State first-year forward Kenneth Rogers, Jr. (Springfield International Charter School/Springfield, Mass.) nabbed his third Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference men's basketball player of the week honor and his sixth conference rookie of the week honors for his play in a pair of Owls wins.
Rogers helped the Owls to a 2-0 start in the league (and 12-3 overall) by averaging 20 points, 13.5 rebounds and 5.5 assists in a pair of conference wins. Rogers posted an 18-9-7 line in an 80-77 win over Framingham State, then followed up with 22 points, 18 rebounds and four assists as the Owls held MCLA at bay, 88-74.
For the season, Rogers leads the Owls and the MASCAC in scoring at 18.8 points per game, he's second in the conference in rebounding at 8.8 per game, and sixth in assists per game with three per contest.
Westfield sits atop the conference standings in the early going. Westfield will host Worcester State on Wednesday at the Woodward Center, with a 5:30 start as part of a doubleheader, where the Owl women host the Lancers at 7:30.
