Westfield State men's basketball alumnus Chris Caputo '02 is back in the Sweet Sixteen.
Caputo played as a point guard for Owls' coach Rich Sutter from 1998-2002 before embarking on a collegiate coaching career that has taken him to the NCAA Division I men's basketball sweet sixteen three times, first with George Mason University, which made a run to the Final Four in 2006, and now for the
second time as associate head coach under Jim Larranaga at the University of Miami.
Caputo's
success has been well-documented on WestfieldStateOwls.com, and has frequently been mentioned as an
up-and-coming candidate to take over his own program as a head coach in the near future.
Miami defeated Buffalo and Wichita State to advance. You can watch Caputo and the Hurricanes take on Villanova in the Sweet-Sixteen matchup on CBS on Thursday, March 24. Tip-off time is 7:10 p.m.
