Kelly, Souretis Win Weekly Honors
Westfield State will be back in action on Saturday, September 13, competing at the UMass-Dartmouth Invitational.
WESTFIELD, Mass. -- Westfield State senior Julianne Kelly (Natick, Mass.) and first-year Elizabeth Souretis (Pembroke, Mass.) swept the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference's weekly awards for women's cross country, the league announced today.
Kelly was noted as the league's runner of the week as she led the Owls to a third-place finish at the George Suitor Invitational hosted by Trinity College on Saturday, September 6. Kelly was first home for the Owls in 11th place overall in 20:43.6 on the hilly 5-kilometer course at Wickham Park in Manchester, Conn.
Souretis, a first-year student, was selected as the conference Rookie of the Week, as she was 66th at the Suitor Invitational in 23:52.
The meet featured eight teams and 98 athletes, including Tufts University, the #15 ranked team in the nation.
Westfield State will be back in action on Saturday, September 13, competing at the UMass-Dartmouth Invitational.
