Carnes, Dority Named to MASCAC All-Conference First Team
Carnes and Dority both earn their first selections to an all-conference team.
WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State junior Lauren Carnes (Westfield, Mass.) and senior Morgan Dority (Walpole, Mass.) were both named to the 2025 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference All-Conference first team for their performance this past season for the Owls.
Carnes earned first team honors as an outside hitter, racking up 185 kills while playing in just 17 matches after missing nine games during the middle of the season due to an injury. Carnes per set numbers reflect her impact on a match-by-match basis with her 2.89 kills per set ranking third in the MASCAC.
In the final six games of the season, Carnes registered double figure kills five of those matches, saving her best performance for the conference tournament where she piled up a career-high 24 kills in the semifinal game. The junior outside hitter now has 356 career kills across 39 matches in two seasons for Westfield.
Dority had a breakout senior season with full-time setting responsibilities for the Owls, finishing second in the MASCAC with 724 assists and was selected as the lone setter on the first team. She also had a sneaky scoring ability to diversify her game, compiling 70 kills while also adding 248 digs as one of three Owls players to top the 200-dig mark.
The Walpole native caps a tremendous four-year career with the Owls, finishing fifth all-time in career assists with 1767. Dority also recorded 512 digs and 182 kills in 104 career matches.
Westfield State finished the season with a 15-11 overall record and a 7-1 conference mark to earn the second overall seed in the MASCAC Tournament. The Owls received a first round bye, then dropped a back-and-forth semifinal match against Framingham State with their season ending in a five-set showdown.
