Bingham Receives MASCAC Defensive Player of the Week Honors
Westfield State junior Sarah Bingham was named the MASCAC Defensive Player of the Week after a four-game slate for the Owls this past week.
WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State senior Sarah Bingham (Reno, Nev.) was named the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week after a four-game slate for the Owls this past week.
Bingham continued to serve as a strong net-front presence for Westfield, racking up 12 total blocks to go along with 12 kills, four aces, and eight digs across four matches. Bingham tied her season-high block total with seven while adding five kills and two digs in setback against Bates College this past Saturday. She also posted two solo blocks as part of a 3-0 sweep of Anna Maria College on Thursday.
On the year, the senior middle blocker leads the MASCAC with 39 total blocks and has registered at least one block in 12 of 13 matches this season. Bingham is also fourth on the Owls in kills (49), hitting percentage (.242), and service aces (10).
Bingham has produced 204 total blocks over her four seasons with Westfield, serving as the current fourth-highest mark in program history.
Westfield State will open MASCAC play tomorrow as the Owls travel to MCLA for a 6:00 P.M. match in what will be the Owls' eighth consecutive road or neutral game.
