All-New England Seniors
BRISTOL, R.I.- The New England Women’s Volleyball Association has announced the honorees for the All New England Seniors. Thirty-two seniors and 10 honorable mention seniors have earned the honor recognizing their contributions to collegiate volleyball in New England.
Westfield State University's Rachel Ryan (Westborough, Mass.) was an honorable mention selection on the elite senior squad. Ryan helped to lead the Owls to their second straight MASCAC championship and NCAA Tournament appearance. The first team all-conference selection posted team highs of 329 kills, 54 service aces and 238 digs.
Players were selected by a vote of all participating member head coaches following the nomination process. The full list of honorees represents 30 different institutions from NCAA Division III volleyball programs across New England and seven different conferences. The New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) boasts 16 players among the top 32, followed by the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) with seven. Four players from The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) earned the honor, three from the University Athletic Association (UAA) and one from both the Greater Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) and the Little East Conference.
Ryan was the only MASCAC player represented on the All-New England squad.
Established nearly 25 years ago, the New England Women’s Volleyball Association is open to all collegiate institutions in New England sponsoring Division III women’s volleyball. Membership has grown to nearly 60 members in 2010, representing eight conferences.
