All-Conference Teams
Three Westfield State University players were selected to the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCASC) women’s volleyball all-conference first team in voting conducted by the coaches.
The first-team honorees from the conference champions were junior hitter Alex Shaw (East Falmouth, Mass.) – who also was chosen the MASCAC player of the year – senior hitter Rachel Ryan (Westborough, Mass.), and junior setter Kerin DeGirolamo (North Attleboro, Mass.).
Shaw has a .270 hitting percentage with 284 kills and 58 blocks heading into this Friday’s NCAA Tournament game at New York University. She also was a first-team all-conference selection in 2009.
DeGirolamo – also a first-team pick for the second straight season – has 947 assists and leads the MASCAC with a 9.7 assists per game average. She has 207 digs, 32 service aces and 32 blocks.
Ryan has team highs of 321 kills, 53 service aces and 230 digs.
Also honored was Fred Glanville who was named MASCAC coach of the year for the third straight season.
