WESTFIELD – The Westfield State University women’s volleyball team coasted to a 3-0 victory (25-18, 25-2, 25-8) over Salem State University in its Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference opener on Tuesday, Sept. 21.
The Owls are 8-5 overall and 1-0 in the MASCAC. Salem is 3-7 and 0-1.
Senior standout Rachel Ryan led the Owls with 15 kills and five aces, while Alex Shaw totaled 11 kills, three aces and one block. Freshman Julia Warner (Lee) had 13 digs and five kills. Junior Kerin DeGirolamo recorded 36 assists.
Westfield returns to action on Friday when it participates in the highly competitive Amherst Classic.
