Paige Moroney Presented with Peter Mazza Award

WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State University senior Paige Moroney (Sterling, Mass./Wachussett Reg.) recently received the Peter Mazza Athletic Award from the Westfield State athletic department at their annual awards ceremony. This award is presented a student-athlete that excel in academics, athletic ability, sportsmanship, character, service, leadership, and professional development.
The award is named in honor of Dr. Peter Mazza, the former vice-president of student affairs at Westfield State, a significant advocate of the student-athlete experience.
As a four-year member of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), this year Moroney was elected as the president of the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference SAAC, helping lead student athlete initiatives and programming across the conference.
Moroney, a captain of the women's track and field team has been a sprinter and a jumper on both the Indoor and Outdoor Women's Track and Field team at Westfield State for the past four years. The Owls recently won the 2024 MASCAC Outdoor Championship, where Moroney was a part of the Owls' winning 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams.
The Owls claimed the MASCAC indoor title earlier this spring.
She was also a D3 New England Qualifier in the 100 as a junior, and in the indoor 4x200 relay this season, and the 4x400 outdoor relay this spring.
