Lee Earns Conference Rookie of the Week Honors
Westfield State first-year athlete Eliza Lee earned MASCAC recognition this past week as the conference Rookie of the Week after strong performances at the Jerry Gravel Classic this past weekend.
WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State first-year athlete Eliza Lee (Walpole, Mass.) earned conference recognition this past week as she received the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week after a trio of strong performances this past weekend at the Jerry Gravel Classic from Westfield, Mass.
Lee posted strong contributions to the Owls overall score after compiling three second-place finishes on the day. She earned second-place distances in the long jump (5.04m) and triple jump (10.74) field events before adding another second-place tally in the 400m by crossing the tape in 1:02.43 for a total of 24 points across the three events.
She was also apart of the Owls team-winning 4x100 meter relay as the women's track and field team finished first overall to win the meet.
For Lee, it is the third consecutive week that she has been named the conference's Rookie of the Week during the outdoor season as she has totaled a combined six conference honors between the indoor and outdoor seasons.
Westfield State track and field will compete in the Trinity College Invitational from Hartford, Conn. in their next meet on Saturday, April 22 before preparing for the MASCAC Championships the following weekend from Fitchburg, Mass.
