Three Owls Named MASCAC Athletes of the Week for Track and Field
Westfield State track and field's Dylan Clark (Bellows Falls, Vt./BFA), Paige Moroney (Sterling, Mass./Wachusset) and Vicky Marin (Greenfield, Mass./Greenfield) all earned athlete of the week honors from the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference this week, after their standout performances at the Westfield State Invitational meet conducted at Smith College on February 11.
WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State track and field's Dylan Clark (Bellows Falls, Vt./BFA), Paige Moroney (Sterling, Mass./Wachusset) and Vicky Marin (Greenfield, Mass./Greenfield) all earned athlete of the week honors from the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference this week, after their standout performances at the Westfield State Invitational meet conducted at Smith College on February 11.
Clark was named the men's field athlete of the week. He won the men's 35-lb. weight throw with a throw of 13.80 meters and placed second in the shot put with a personal-best throw of 12.88 meters. Westfield' men's team took second place at the meet,
Moroney was named the women's track athlete of the week, as she picked up a pair of wins for the Owls, winning the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.17 seconds, and the 200 meters in 27.35.
Marin earned the women's field athlete of the week honors, as she had a busy day at the meet, earning 38 points with three event wins and one season-place finish as she bounced between events early in the meet. Marin won the long jump (4.84 meters), and the triple jump (10.24 meters), and placed second in the high jump with a top mark of 1.56 meters to qualify for DIII New Englands. She also won the 60-meter hurdles event.
The Owl women won the meet.
Westfield will be back on track next Saturday, February 18 at the Wheaton Invitational.
