Richter Receives LEC Recognition
Owls first-year swimmer Alexa Richter wins the Little East Conference rookie swimmer of the week
Westfield, Mass. – Westfield State first-year swimmer Alexa Richter (Westfield, Mass.) earned the Little East Conference Rookie Swimmer of the Week after a strong performance in an Owls setback to Mount Holyoke College.
Richter won three individual events along with swimming the leadoff leg of the team-winning 200-yard medley relay (1:59.22). She was victorious in the 100 (58.38), 200 (2:04.81), and 500-yard (5:36.86) freestyle events.
Richter has controlled the freestyle events over the course of her young career as she won the 1,000 and 50-yard freestyles in the previous meet against Western New England. Her 11:42.42 time on the 1,000-yard was one second shy of the meet record.
Westfield State returns home this week as the Owls host Smith College at the Ely Pool on the campus of Westfield State on Friday at 7:00 P.M.
