Rennich, Parker Receive MASCAC Recognition
Jenn Rennich earned the MASCAC player of the week, and Delaney Parker was awarded rookie of the week
Westfield, Mass. – Westfield State senior Jenn Rennich (Bedford, Mass.) and first-year Delaney Parker (Orange, Mass.) each earned MASCAC honors this past week as Rennich received the player of the week and Parker was awarded the rookie of the week.
Rennich tallied nine points on three goals and three assists in a 2-0 week for the Owls. She scored two goals in a victory over Plymouth State, 4-0, and then added a goal and three assists in a 6-1 win over Salem State. Her third assist tied the Owls single-season record with 15 in a season. Rennich has also compiled 14 goals on the year, which is tied for tenth in school history for a single year. She is also racing after the career assist record as her 35 assists in her three-year career place her just three behind the school record.
Parker tacked on four more goals to her nation-leading 29 goal total by scoring a goal against Plymouth followed by her fourth hat trick of the season against Salem. Parker's performance on Saturday vaulted her into the all-time single-season goal and points (66) records in Westfield State history, which were previously held by hall of famer Dennis Dugas, who scored 26 goals and amounted 62 points in 1974.
Westfield State (13-4-1, 7-0 MASCAC) earned the number one seed in the MASCAC tournament after ending the season on an eight-game winning streak. The Owls will host a MASCAC semi-final game on Friday at 7:00 P.M. from Alumni Field against the winner of #5 Salem State and #4 Framingham State who play tomorrow night.
