Davis, Parker Earn MASCAC Weekly Honors
Westfield State University women’s soccer swept the Massachusetts State Collegaite Athletic Conference weekly awards for the season’s opening week, as junior goalkeeper Lauryn Davis (Templeton, Mass./Quabbin Reigonal HS) and freshman midfielder Delaney Parker (Orange, Mass./Mahar HS) were named the loop’s player and rookie of the week.
WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State University women's soccer swept the Massachusetts State Collegaite Athletic Conference weekly awards for the season's opening week, as junior goalkeeper Lauryn Davis (Templeton, Mass./Quabbin Reigonal HS) and freshman midfielder Delaney Parker (Orange, Mass./Mahar HS) were named the loop's player and rookie of the week.
Davis posted 155 shutout minutes in goal in a pair of games at the Cougar Classic Tournament in Union, N.J. She shutout host Kean (NJ) University with seven saves Friday, then posted 65 shutout minutes in the second half and overtime in a 0-0 draw with Stockton (NJ) University.
Parker posted a sensational first collegiate game, scoring a hat trick in the Owls 4-0 win over Kean.
Westfield is now 1-1-1 on the season. The Owls will head back to New Jersey this weekend for a pair of games at the Drew University Fall Festival Tournament, facing the U.S. Coast Guard Academy on Saturday, September 11.
