Black Earns MASCAC Offensive Player of the Week
Westfield State senior midfielder Mykenzie Black (Hopedale, Mass.) captured the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week honor after her performance this past week.
WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State senior midfielder Mykenzie Black (Hopedale, Mass.) captured the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week honor after her performance this past week.
Black was able to net three goals and add on two assists in the Owls' setback to the Pride of Springfield College. Also during that game, Black grabbed seven draw controls and a pair of ground balls to help Westfield take the lead in the fourth quarter 11-10.
Black has now captured 71 draw controls, which is currently first place in the conference. Black is also top ten in the MASCAC in ground balls (25) and assists (14). Black's 34 points and 20 goals are tied for third best on the team.
In just two seasons with the Owls, Black is cruising up the career draw controls list, currently sitting eighth all time with a mark of 138 draw controls, needing just 12 more to break into the top five.
Black and the Owls are back in action Tuesday, April 15 as they hit the road and travel to Worcester State for a MASCAC matchup for a start time of 6:00 P.M.
