Owls Women's Lacrosse Earns Academic Honors from IWLCA
Westfield State women’s lacrosse earned several academic honors from the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association, as announced earlier this week.
WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State women's lacrosse earned several academic honors from the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association, as announced earlier this week.
As a team, the Owls achieved IWLCA National Academic Honor Squad honors. Westfield State's team had a collective team GPA of 3.28.
Additionally, five Owls players were named as individuals to the IWCLA Academic Honor Roll.
Megan Bailey (Quincy, Mass.), Mykenzie Black (Hopedale, Mass.), Kylie Buchanan (Westfield, Mass.), Natalie DeMaio (Westwood, Mass.) and Paige Jelliffe (Monroe, Conn./MASUK) were selected as upper-class students who have received a 3.5 or higher grade point average.
Bailey, DeMaio and Jelliffe are graduate students in education, Buchanan is a graduate student in social work and Black is a junior studying physical education.
Bailey, DeMaio, Jelliffe and Black all earned all-conference honors on the field this season, and Bailey, Jelliffe and DeMaio were recently recognized on the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District at-large team.
Westfield finished the season with a 12-8 overall record, finishing 5-1 in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference. Westfield won the conference tournament championship and advanced to the NCAA tournament before falling to Cortland (NY) State in a tightly contested 13-9 decision.
