DeMaio Receives MASCAC Player of the Week
Westfield State sophomore Natalie DeMaio earns the MASCAC Player of the Week as Owls clinch regular season title and top overall seed
WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State sophomore attacker Natalie DeMaio (Westwood, Mass.) earned the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week after assisting the Owls to the conference regular season title and the top overall seed in a 2-0 week.
DeMaio netted 11 goals with four caused turnovers and three ground balls as the Owls won a pair of games against Worcester State and Mass. Maritime. She tallied a game-high six goals in an 18-8 victory over the Lancers while recording five goals in a 17-1 thrashing of the Buccaneers.
The sophomore attacker finished the regular season with the third-most goals in the MASCAC (48) while compiling the second most points on the team at 49. DeMaio has found the back of the net in every game except for one in 17 games played this season (averaging 3.6 goals per game in the Owls current nine game win streak).
Westfield State, who secured a first round bye in claiming the top spot in the MASCAC, will host the winner of #4 Bridgewater State and #5 Salem State on Thursday night at 7:00 P.M. in a conference semi-final game from Alumni Field in Westfield, Mass.
