Collins Named MASCAC Rookie of the Week
Westfield State first-year Hannah Collins earned the conference Rookie of the Week
WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State first-year midfielder Hannah Collins (Niskayuna, N.Y.) was nominated as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week after the Owls won two games this past week.
Collins netted five goals and an assist while compiling eight draw controls, seven ground balls and four caused turnovers in a 2-0 week for the Owls. She scored a goal along with three draw controls and two ground balls in a 13-3 victory over Wheaton College on Wednesday. Collins followed with a four-goal effort in a 13-1 thrashing of Salem State while also registering an assist, five ground balls, and four draw controls.
On the season, the first-year midfielder has registered six goals and two assists for a total of eight points. She is currently fifth on the team with 17 draw controls.
Westfield State (6-5, 2-0 MASCAC) carries a three-game winning streak into a pair of weekday home match-ups, beginning with a Wednesday night game against Keene State at 7:00 P.M. followed by a conference contest versus Fitchburg State on Friday at 7:00 P.M. from Alumni Field in Westfield, Mass.
