Women's Lacrosse Hosts Bowdoin College in Home Opener
Westfield State women’s lacrosse has their first home game of the season this Sunday at noon, with a matchup against Bowdoin College at Alumni Field.
WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State women's lacrosse has their first home game of the season on Sunday at noon, with a matchup against 20th ranked Bowdoin College at Alumni Field.
The Owls started the year with a record of 3-1, including two victories down in Clearwater, FL against Otterbein University and John Carroll University. Through four games, Emma Cretella (Cheshire, Conn.) and Cassidy Harvey (Niskayuna, N.Y.) lead the team in goals scored with 12 apiece. Nicole Rinkus (Pembroke, Mass.) has 12 points herself, with nine goals and three assists. In their most recent victory against John Carroll, these three, along with Natalie DeMaio (Westwood, Mass.), each scored three goals, combining for 12 of the Owls 13 points.
Bowdoin College has a 2-2 record to begin their season, with their most recent victory against Catholic University in Washington D.C. for a final score of 20-13. Fiona Bundy (Easthampton, Mass.) has a team leading 17 points, notching 14 goals and three assists, with six goals scored against Catholic University. Colleen McAloon (Mountainside, N.J.) is the Polar Bears second leading scorer with 10 goals and one assist. Before facing Westfield, Bowdoin begins their Massachusetts trip with a matchup against Williams College on Saturday.
After this game, the Owls have three days off before traveling to Connecticut College on Wednesday, March 23.
