WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State senior midfielder Sam Donohoe (Pepperell, Mass./N. Middlesex) and first-year goalkeeper Kara Banagan (Niskayuna, N.Y.) have been named to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches' Association (IWLCA) All-Region team.
Both were second-team picks in the "Berkshire Region," which encompasses schools from multiple leagues in Massachusetts and Connecticut.
Both were previously named to the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference's All-Conference team.
Donohoe led the Owls the team with 29 goals, 38 points and 39 draw controls, and snagged 17 ground balls. The Owls' fifth-year senior finished her career with 105 career goals and 29 assists for 123 points, 11th on the Owls career points list, and ninth in career goals.
Banagan completed the year playing eight games in goal and posted an 8.87 goals-against average and saved 53.2 percent of shots on goal, both of which are the second-best single-season totals in school history.
Westfield finished the season with an 8-2 overall record. The Owls defeated Framingham State in the MASCAC Championship game to win Westfield's fourth-straight league title. Westfield fell to Roger Williams University 18-13 in a second-round NCAA Tournament game.
