Women's Golf Wraps Up Year at NWGC Championship
Sophomore Ashley Ames placed 34th individually to lead the efforts of the Westfield State University women’s golf team at the 2025 Northeast Women’s Golf Conference championships at Wintonbury Hills GC in Bloomfield, Conn. on Saturday and Sunday.
WESTFIELD, Mass. --- Sophomore Ashley Ames placed 34th individually to lead the efforts of the Westfield State University women's golf team at the 2025 Northeast Women's Golf Conference championships at Wintonbury Hills GC in Bloomfield, Conn. on Saturday and Sunday.
Saturday's play was interrupted by heavy rains late in the round, which reverted the scoring to nine holes as all players had completed their first nine. Sunday's play saw clearer conditions but steady winds blowing up to 25 mph on the course that blends links style and traditional New England routing that played 5,547 yards on the Pete Dye designed layout.
Ames finished 54-55-51for a 27-hole final score of 160. Ames is in her first season with the women's golf team and has also been a two-year player for the Owls' women's basketball team.
Dorothy Duval went 63-48-59 for a total of 170 to be next in for the Owls in 41st place.
Julie Gleason (46th), Antonia Erickson (47th) and Katie MacDonald (52nd) completed the Owls' roster at the meet.
Westfield finished 11th as a team at the meet with a final score of +275. Cortland (NY) State won the team title with a score of +90, two strokes clear of runner-up Suffolk (Mass.) University, as 11 teams scored at the meet.
