WESTFIELD, Mass. — Maddie Pond helped the Owls surge past Elms College this past week and helped secure her spot as MASCAC Player of the Week.
Over the Thanksgiving break, Maddie Pond (Holyoke, Mass./Hampshire) and the rest of the Westfield women's hoops team took on Elms and struck them down 89-49.
Pond helped this surge with an unbelievable season-high double-double with 23 points and 11 steals. Pond was lights out from deep as she shot 50 percent from beyond of the arc connecting on five of ten attempts. She also added to the stat line with five rebounds and four assists in just 16 minutes of play.
Pond is now tied for first in the conference with 13 three pointers made and also leads the league in steals with 34. Pond is top-15 in the conference in points per game but has the second-fewest amount of minutes played among the others.
Pond will look to help Westfield this Thursday, December 5 with an away game at Emerson at 7:00 p.m. but then return home Saturday, December 7 against Emannuel at noon.
