Williams Earns Second Consecutive MASCAC Rookie of the Week Honors
Westfield State first-year guard Octaviana Williams was named the MASCAC Rookie of the Week for the second straight week.
WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State first-year guard Octaviana Williams (Springfield, Mass.) earned conference recognition for the second consecutive week after receiving the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week honors. She has now won the Rookie of the Week award for the fourth time this season.
Williams averaged 9.0 points and 8.7 rebounds to go along with 3.0 assists and 1.3 steals across three games this week for the Owls.
The rookie guard started the New Year by delivering one of her most complete performances of the season, filling up the stat sheet with 17 rebounds (nine offensive), eight points, and six assists in an overtime setback against Coast Guard on January 2. Williams also posted 11 points and five rebounds in a mid-week victory over MCLA this past Wednesday, then followed with eight points and four rebounds in a loss to Framingham on Saturday.
Across 15 games this season, Williams is second on the Owls in rebounds per game (5.7) and offensive rebounds per game (3.1). She is also tallying 5.9 points and 2.3 steals per game.
Westfield State (8-7, 1-1 MASCAC) remains home for their next matchup and will host conference opponent Salem State (6-9, 1-1 MASCAC) on Wednesday at 7:30 P.M. from the Woodward Center in Westfield, Mass.
