Williams Secures Second Straight MASCAC Rookie of the Week
Westfield State first-year guard Octaviana Williams was named the MASCAC Rookie of the Week for her performance in a winning effort against Mount Holyoke College.
WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State first year guard Octaviana Williams (Springfield, Mass.) earned her second consecutive Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week honors after assisting the Owls to a 79-46 victory over Mount Holyoke College this past Tuesday.
Williams tallied eight points while grabbing six rebounds and dishing out three assists in the winning effort. She also picked up another steal as Williams has recorded at least one steal in her first six collegiate games.
The Springfield native has provided an added toughness on the defensive side of the ball as she is fourth on the team in rebounding (4.5 rebounds per game) and tied for second in steals per game (3.0).
Westfield State has won five of their first six games to begin the season and the Owls will look to continue their winning ways as they travel to New England College tomorrow for a 5:30 P.M. start time.
