Jordan Grant Named MASCAC Player, Rookie of the Week
Westfield State sophomore Jordan Grant (Gray, Maine/Gray-New Gloucester HS) picked up the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference women’s basketball player and rookie of the week awards for the week ending January 16.
WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State sophomore Jordan Grant (Gray, Maine/Gray-New Gloucester HS) picked up the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference women's basketball player and rookie of the week awards for the week ending January 16.
Grant, averaged 16.5 points and nine rebounds per game in a pair of conference wins for the Owls. She shot 66.7 percent (14-21) from the floor as the Owls topped Salem State on the road, 102-72, and Worcester State at home 80-69 to improve to 3-0 in conference play.
A 5-11 forward, Grant spent the 2020-21 academic year at Westfield State, practicing with the varsity but the team did not compete due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Grant transferred to Palm Beach Atlantic University for the Fall 2021 semester, but returned to Westfield for this spring, where she has made an immediate impact on the Owls lineup.
In four games this season she is averaging 12.0 points per game, (second best on the team) and 5.8 rebounds per game while shooting 59 percent from the floor. The Owls are 4-0 since Grant was added to the roster and are now 7-7 overall this season.
Westfield will next host Bridgewater State University at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the Woodward Center.
