Gray Named MASCAC Player of the Week

Westfield State junior forward Melissa Gray Peabody, Mass.) was named the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference women's basketball player of the week, as sponsored by Geico, for the week ending Nov. 17.

Gray led the Owls with 21 points, six rebounds and five steals in just 19 minutes of play in a 109-59 blowout win over Plymouth State on Sunday.  Gray connected on five of 11 three-point tries in the game.  

Westfield went 2-0 last week as Gray averaged 18 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.5 steals and 1.5 assists per game, while shooting 37 percent from beyond the arc.

Gray's Owls are 3-0 on the season.  Westfield will travel to Middlebury College for a tough non-conference game on Tuesday, Nov. 19.
