LaTour Earns MASCAC Player of the Week
LaTour receives conference honors after a sizzling week at the plate, batting .632 with five extra base hits and 11 RBI in a 6-0 week for the Owls.
WESTFIELD, Mass. – After a sizzling week at the plate, Westfield State junior Kassidy LaTour (Lebanon, Conn.) was named the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference's Player of the Week as the Owls went 6-0 en route to setting the school record for most wins in a single season.
LaTour batted .632 (12-19) with two doubles, two triples, a home run, and 11 runs batted in across the six games. She scored seven times and posted a .591 on-base percentage to go along with a potent 1.105 slugging percentage.
She was nearly perfect in the doubleheader sweep of Mass. Maritime on Monday, going 6-for-7 at the dish by hitting for the cycle with a double, triple, home run, and three singles. She was 2-for-4 in the game one win over Bridgewater, then capped the week with four more hits in six at bats with a double, triple, and two RBI in a sweep over Keene State.
Hitting in the middle of a loaded Owls lineup, LaTour leads the MASCAC with an .857 slugging percentage, is tied for first with 25 extra base hits, and is second with a .490 batting average and 45 runs batted in and tied for third with five home runs. She has registered at least one RBI in ten of her last 12 games.
Westfield State is in the midst of a historic season, improving to 33-1 after four more wins over the weekend, setting the record for most wins of any program in the history of Westfield State Athletics. The Owls have four games remaining during the regular season, all on the road starting on Thursday against Hartford in a non-conference doubleheader beginning at 3:00 P.M.
