Hough Named MASCAC Player of the Week

WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State sophomore infielder Sarah Hough (Southwick, Mass.) has been named the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference player of the week for the week ending April 28.
Hough was an offensive catalyst in a 3-1 week for the Owls, as she batted .714 (5-7) with three doubles, three walks, RBI and two runs scored along with a 1.143 slugging percentage and .800 on-base percentage. She was 2-for-2 with two doubles, an RBI, two walks and run scored in the 5-3 win over Trinity (Conn.). Went 3-for-3 with a double, walk and run scored in the 9-3 win over Fitchburg State.
This season, Hough is batting .360 with10 doubles, two home runs, 18 rbi and 15 runs scored while primarily playing at second base.
Hough, the daughter of Owls' head coach Joe Hough, has helped Westfield to a 10-2 mark in conference play which has the Owls atop the MASCAC standings. Westfield is 23-10-1 overall so far this season. The Owls will host Wesleyan in a non-conference doubleheader on Tuesday, then wrap up the regular season with a critical conference twinbill against Bridgewater State on Saturday at noon.
Westfield can clinch the league's regular-season title and the right to host the conference tournament with a sweep on Saturday.
