Scoville Earns Pitcher-of-the-Week Honors for Third Time

WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State university junior softball pitcher Stephanie Scoville (Northfield, Mass./Pioneer Valley) has been named as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference's pitcher of the week for the third time this season.
Scoville was tabbed for the week ending April 23 after back-to-back complete game wins against conference foes.
She also earned the weekly honor on March 13 and March 27.
This week, Scoville turned in the winning effort in a 3-2 pitchers' duel win over MCLA on Tuesday, allowing just four hits and no earned runs while striking out three.
On Saturday, Scoville went the distance to earn the win in a 9-inning, 3-2 win over Salem State, allowing 10 hits but just one earned run while striking out five, to get her 10th win of the season.
Scoville has a 10-2 record this season with two saves and a 2.94 earned run average. She ranks second in the league in wins and is in the top five in ERA, strikeouts and saves.
Westfield is 21-9 overall and 9-1 in the MASCAC. The Owls currently sit in second place in the league standings, one game behind Framingham State. The Owls and Rams meet in a doubleheader on Saturday, April 29 in a matchup that will go a long way into deciding the top seed in the conference tournament.
Westfield will next travel to Keene State for a non-conference twinbill on Thursday.
