Lummus Earns MASCAC Player of the Week
Westfield State junior Jordyn Lummus received MASCAC honors as she was named the conference Player of the Week after the Owls posted a 4-0 record this past week.
WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State junior outfielder Jordyn Lummus (Pittsfield, Mass.) earned conference honors this past week as she was named the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week as the Owls posted a 4-0 record against league opponents last week.
Lummus concluded the four-game slate by compiling a .647 batting average (11-17) with two home runs, a triple, three RBI, and seven runs scored. She also recorded a 1.118 slugging percentage as the Owls leadoff hitter through the four contests.
She began the week by going 2-4 with a pair of solo home runs that proved to be important insurance runs in a 4-3 game one win over Fitchburg State. She added two additional hits with a triple to complete Westfield's sweep of the Falcons with a 7-3 victory on Monday.
Lummus continued to swing a hot bat into the next series against Mass. Maritime where she registered seven hits in nine at bats with an RBI and four runs scored as part of a twin-bill sweep of the Buccaneers. She tallied a hit in all four of her plate appearances in game one of the series.
On the season, the junior outfielder has vaulted up to third in the MASCAC ranks in batting average (.481) and on-base percentage (.518), and currently sits fourth in the league in slugging percentage (.692). She leads the Owls in runs scored with 20 and is tied for the team lead in extra base hits with six.
Westfield State (14-6, 4-0 MASCAC) will travel to Western New England for their next matchup in a non-conference doubleheader on Wednesday with first pitch of game one set for 3:00 P.M.
