Warsame Named MASCAC Field Athlete of the Week

WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State sophomore athlete Ali Warsame (Chelsea, Mass.) earned conference honors this past week as the MASCAC Field Athlete of the Week.
Warsame delivered an excellent day for the Owls at the Wheaton Post-Season Qualifier meet, securing a pair of first place finishes in the long jump at 6.93 meters and the triple jump at 13.71 meters. Both marks served as personal-best leaps.
His 6.93-meter leap was just shy of the top 50 mark in the event nationally which is set at 6.98 meters.
Warsame's strong showing at Norton would have been a good indication on his placement in the MASCAC Indoor Track and Field Championships which was unfortunately cancelled due to weather and was unable to be made up.
