Gottschall, Bergeron Post Top Finishes at Yankee Invitational
The Owls placed fourth among 14 scoring teams.
WESTFIELD, Mass. — The Westfield State Owls men's track and field team had a meet on Saturday at the Yankee Small College Invitational Meet at Smith College, finishing fourth among 14 scoring teams.h
The day started with track events as the Owls had a pair of first-place finishers in Rowan Gottshall (Simsbury, Conn.) in the men's 800-meter run with a time of 2:05.33. Lorcan Bergeron (Medway, Mass.) also finished in first in the men's 1,000-meter run with a time of 2:46.87.
From the field events side of things, the Owls had plenty of top three finishes. Devan Cerone (Southwick, Mass.) finished second in the men's high jump competition with a height of 1.80 meters. Daniel Shea (Longmeadow, Mass.) finished third in the men's long jump with a distance of 6.42 meters. Dylan Clark (Bellows Falls, Vt.) also finished third in the men's weight toss with a distance of 13.93 meters.
The men's track and field team will head to the Coast Guard Winter Invitational Meet #2 next Friday, February 7 for the next meet. Follow along at WestfieldStateOwls.com for live stats.
