Men's Track Competes at Coast Guard Invitational

WESTFIELD, Mass. — The Westfield State men's track and field team traveled to the Coast Guard Winter Invitational meet on Saturday to find themselves in a personal best showdown.
Fifteen Owls saw bests in the form of ten coming the way of personal records, five season bests as well as a best on the track in the shape of Aiden O'Neil (Chicopee, Mass.).
The Owls had plenty of good running in today as John Nekitopoulos (West Springfield, Mass.) came in first for the men's 1000 meter run with a time of 2:40.38. Nathan Sylven (Wrentham, Mass.) also headlined as he recorded a third-place for Westfield today in the men's 3000 meter run as he produced a time of 9:24.70.
On the field side, Devan Cerone (Southwick, Mass,) had a third-place finish in men's high jump with a height of 1.85 meters. Another impressive competitor today for the Owls was Dylan Clark (Bellows Falls, Vt.) as he had two top five finishes in a pair of events today. He finished in fifth place in men's weight throw with a mark of 14.20 meters, then a fourth place finish in men's shot put with a distance of 13.01 meters.
Westfield is back in action next Saturday, January 25 as they travel to the Massasoit Invitational in Springfield, Mass.
