Ranck, Marin, Maher Earn MASCAC Weekly Awards
Westfield State track and field athletes picked up three of the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference’s weekly awards, as Mike Maher (Attleboro, Mass.) and Colby Ranck (Chicopee, Mass./Hampden Charter) were named the men’s track and men’s field athletes of the week, while first-year Vicky Marin (Greenfield, Mass.) was chosen as the women’s rookie of the week.
WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State track and field athletes picked up three of the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference's weekly awards, as Mike Maher (Attleboro, Mass.) and Colby Ranck (Chicopee, Mass./Hampden Charter) were named the men's track and men's field athletes of the week, while first-year Vicky Marin (Greenfield, Mass.) was chosen as the women's rookie of the week.
Maher won the 3000 meters event in a time of 9:18.11, as Westfield State competed at the Wheaton College Pre Post Season Invitational meet on Saturday in Norton, Mass.
Ranck finished in the top slot in the triple jump with a mark of 13.08 meters. He also took second place in the long jump with a best effort of 6.45 meters.
Marin won the long jump at Wheaton with a mark of 5.11 meters to best the nine-competitor field. Marin also placed second in the high jump at 1.61 meters, and second in the 60 hurdles at 9.44 seconds.
