Hebert Earns MASCAC Rookie of the Week
Westfield State first-year forward Carter Hebert was named the MASCAC Rookie of the Week after a 1-0-1 week for the Owls.
Westfield, Mass. – Westfield State first-year midfielder Carter Hebert (Easthampton, Mass.) was named the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week as the Owls finished this past week with a 1-0-1 record.
Hebert recorded three goals and an assist in a week which saw the Owls come from behind in a draw against Keene State 3-3, while also defeating Fitchburg 4-0 in a MASCAC clash on Saturday. With the Owls trailing 3-1 with ten minutes to play on Wednesday versus Keene, Hebert provided an offensive spark by scoring his second and third goals of the night in a span of four minutes to secure the tie.
Hebert also added an assist in the final minutes of Saturday's victory over Fitchburg as the Owls clinched a postseason birth with the win.
The Easthampton native has scored a team-leading eight goals in his rookie campaign, leading all rookies in the MASCAC (third overall). His 19 points on the year places him third among conference leaders.
Westfield State wraps up the regular season on Saturday as the Owls host Salem State at noon on senior day from Alumni Field in Westfield, Mass. The Owls will begin postseason play the following week with a date, time and location still to be determined.
