Winslow, Krupcyznski Earn Weekly Awards
Westfield Heads to MASCAC Championship Game on Saturday
WESTFIELD., Mass. – Westfield State sophomore goaltender Aiden Winslow (Jacksonville, Fla.) and first-year forward Liam Krupcyznski (San Marcos, Calif.) have been honored by the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference in the weekly men's ice hockey awards.
Winslow was named as the circuit's goaltender of the week after he backstopped the Owls to a 2-0 week, with both wins coming in the conference tournament. He blanked Worcester State 5-0 in the quarterfinal round on 32 saves, then made 41 stops in the Owls 4-3, overtime victory at Fitchburg State to help propel the Owls into the conference championship game.
For the season, Winslow has a 2.46 goals-against average and a .919 save percentage.
Krupcyznskigot things rolling in the Owls quarterfinal round win over Worcester State, assisting on the first goal of the day and scoring the Owls' second goal in the 5-0 win. He skated, but did not factor in the scoring in the semi-final win at Fitchburg State.
Krupcyznski is enjoying a solid first-year with Westfield State, scoring five goals and assisting on five more.
Westfield State is 18-7-2 overall this season, the most wins in recent program history, since the program was re-started in the 2008-09 season. The Owls were the #3 seed in the MASCAC Tournament, and will face #1 Anna Maria College on Saturday, March 7 in the Championship Game at Horgan Arena in Auburn, Mass.
