Seguin Earns MASCAC Player of the Week Honors
Seguin scored two goals in the third period to spark an Owls comeback win against Rivier.
WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State senior defenseman Raphael Seguin (Saint-Lazare, Quebec) earned conference honors this past week after receiving the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference's Player of the Week.
Seguin finished the week with two goals and an assist, tallying a pair of power play goals in the Owls 5-3 come-from-behind victory against Rivier on Saturday night. The first goal tied the game early in the third period, rocketing a one-timer to the opposite post, then gave the Owls an insurance marker later in the period, scoring a wrister from the center of the attacking zone.
Seguin is the second straight Owls player to win the conference's weekly honors with Emile Pichette earning co-player of the week honors last week. Liam Krupcyznski gathered MASCAC rookie of the week honors in the first weekend of the season.
On the season, the senior captain is tied for third in points for the Owls with seven assists and two goals while anchoring the top defensive pairing on a nightly basis.
Westfield State is off to a strong start in conference play, posting a 4-1 league record and are currently in a three-way tie for points at the top of the league standings with 12. The Owls will have one game left in the 2025 portion of the schedule as Westfield hosts Assumption University in a non-conference game on Thursday at 7:35 P.M. from Amelia Park Arena in Westfield, Mass.
