Miraldo Named MASCAC Rookie of the Week
Westfield State first-year forward Christopher Miraldo earned conference honors in the opening week of the season, securing the MASCAC Rookie of the Week.
WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State first-year forward Christopher Miraldo (Montreal, Quebec) earned conference honors this past week as he secured the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week after his performance in the Western Mass. Invitational.
Miraldo tallied a pair of goals as part of a 6-2 win over Western New England in the Western Mass. Invitational Championship game from Amelia Park in Westfield, Mass. Miraldo capped a four-goal scoring flurry in the second period with his first collegiate goal, then buried his second of the night late in the third period to wrap up the victory.
The Owls opened the regular season by defeating Post University, 3-2, in overtime on Friday to advance into the title game where the Owls would hoist the championship trophy against the Golden Bears on Saturday night.
Westfield State will enter conference play this upcoming week as the Owls host Salem State on Thursday at 7:35 P.M. from Amelia Park Arena in Westfield, Mass.
